Working with Stephen Turvil Architects we created this fabulously light and airy large-scale extension. Three-metre-high glazed sliding doors opening away from the corner of the extension allow a truly expansive connection into the landscaped garden. The Swiss manufactured doors have flush thresholds and the same large format porcelain tiles are used inside and out to blur the boundary between the two. Included in the build was a client request to install a 1,200 bottle climate-controlled wine cellar; accessed down a spiral staircase through an electrically operated reinforced glass floor door.
